CE-Marked Fire Doors: Asturmadi Firestop Certification Process
As of November 1, 2019, the CE marking on fire-rated doors is mandatory for their sale in the European Union. This marking guarantees that metal fire-rated doors comply with the essential requirements for safety, fire resistance, and smoke control.
At Asturmadi Doors, as manufacturers of certified fire-rated doors, we undergo a rigorous testing and quality control process to obtain the Declaration of Performance (DoP) for our Asturmadi Firestop doors.
What is the CE Marking for fire doors?
The CE marking is a mandatory label indicating that a fire door has been tested in accordance with applicable European standards, particularly EN 16034 for pedestrian fire doors.
This mark certifies that the product has passed official tests and that it is manufactured under a factory production control system supervised by a notified body.
Sampling and Material Verification
The certification process begins with the collection of samples from a fire door manufactured at our facility.
The technicians at the testing laboratory verify:

Fire Resistance and Smoke Control Tests
Asturmadi Firestop fire doors are tested in an accredited laboratory in accordance with European standards:

Verifies integrity (E) and insulation (I) for 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes.
These tests confirm that certified metal fire doors function as intended in the event of a fire.

Along with the samples sent to the laboratory, all technical documentation for the product is provided, demonstrating that each component complies with its corresponding regulations.
This process ensures full traceability of the fire doors and consistency between the tested product and the mass-produced product.
Factory Inspection and Production Control
To obtain CE marking, Asturmadi Doors implemented a Factory Production Control (FPC) system in accordance with the EN 16034 standard.
An inspector from the notified body conducts an audit at our facilities to verify:

Declaration of Performance (DoP)

The CdP provides the technical endorsement required for the sale of fire-rated doors bearing the CE marking.
