The CE marking for fire doors became mandatory on November 1, 2019. To obtain it, at Asturmadi Doors we completed a certification process that includes samples, tests, and manufacturing control inspections conducted by a Notified Body designated by the European Union.
Here’s how it went:
Samples were taken
Technicians from the testing laboratory visited our facilities to take samples of our fire door. They verified the materials, composition, and manufacturing methods of the doors used to conduct the type tests.
Laboratory tests were conducted on a sample of our fire door
First, a fire resistance test: the doors, along with all their components (hardware), have been tested in accordance with the EN 1634-1 standard to verify their integrity and thermal insulation resistance times (30 and 60 minutes).
Following a smoke control test: It was verified that the door prevents smoke from passing through to ensure compliance with the EN 1634-3 standard.
Along with the sample door, we send the technical documentation for the door to the laboratory to demonstrate that each of the components used complies with their respective standards and to ensure proper traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
We underwent a factory inspection for CE marking in accordance with EN 16034.
We implemented a production control system at our factory in Avilés. Once it was implemented, an inspector came to our facilities to conduct a technical inspection of the factory’s production control system.
Once we received the favorable test and technical inspection reports, we drafted the Declaration of Performance and submitted it, along with the reports, to the Certification Commission. The Commission, in turn, verified the documentation, approved the product’s CE marking, and issued the Certificate of Declaration of Performance.
Technical inspections will continue to be conducted annually to monitor and ensure that the quality and performance of the Asturmadi fire door are maintained over time.
